Screen context helps Sal point, explain, and guide you through your work.
Visual requests, guided walkthroughs, and computer-use tasks can capture screenshots. During an active task, Sal may take additional screenshots to check what changed and decide the next step. Screen access is not limited to a single press of the shortcut.
Voice features use your microphone while a voice session is active. Hands-free mode can keep listening until you stop it. Audio is sent to a speech service for transcription, and spoken replies use speech-generation services. You can also type to Sal.

Connections with a purpose.
Connected services give Sal access to the tools and information you authorize.
When you connect an account, the permissions granted by that service determine what Sal can read or do. Connector-backed tasks send the information needed for the action to that service. Some actions require an additional approval in Sal.
When desktop connector suggestions are enabled, Sal can read the active website’s domain through the browser extension or supported native browser controls. This detection uses browser metadata, not screenshots. Browser tasks themselves may read page content or interact with the page.
Location-aware features can request your device’s location through system location services. Availability depends on your device, settings, and permission.

Sal combines local desktop features with cloud-based AI processing.
Desktop controls, overlays, and some automation run on your device. AI requests can send your prompt, relevant conversation history, screen context, and selected file or connector content to SaintSal’s backend and the providers handling the request.
Depending on the feature and configuration, services can include OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google for AI, and AssemblyAI, Deepgram, or ElevenLabs for speech. Connected apps and other processing services may also be involved in a task.
Data handling and retention can differ by service and configuration. Our Privacy Policy describes our data-use commitments. For provider-specific handling or contractual requirements, contact our privacy team.

Know what stays with your work.
Conversations, knowledge, and task results help you pick up where you left off.
Saved chats, uploaded knowledge, and account or workspace information are stored to support those features. Desktop task histories, attachments, and generated files can also be saved on your device. Screenshots or images you attach to saved work may remain with that work.
Deleting a conversation does not necessarily remove a file saved separately to your computer or information already sent to another service. Those copies have their own controls.

Product signals, with clear limits.
We use PostHog to understand how people find and use SaintSal.
Our product analytics records selected events such as page visits, downloads, onboarding completion, and task activity. Events can include an account identifier, device or browser information, and task status or duration. This is not anonymous when associated with your account.
The PostHog integration disables session replay and automatic click capture. Its event filter excludes prompts, replies, screenshots, file contents, and arbitrary page URLs. Product analytics is separate from the content processed to answer your requests and from operational or billing records.
On the web, this PostHog integration respects browser Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control signals. The website also uses Rewardful and referral tracking for affiliate attribution; those are separate from PostHog analytics.

Make the boundaries yours.
Your device permissions, connected accounts, and workspace settings shape what Sal can do.
You can use text instead of voice, manage connected services, and review task approval requests. On desktop, operating-system permissions control access to features such as the microphone, screen, accessibility, and location.
Company workspaces have role-based administration and governance settings. The controls you can view or change depend on your role and workspace access.
Closing a chat window or hiding the notch can leave delegated tasks running in the background. Stop the task to cancel it, or quit the desktop app to end its local activity. Closing the app does not undo actions already completed or cancel work already submitted to an external service.

A few things you might be wondering.
Does Sal need my microphone to work?
No. You can type to Sal. Microphone access is needed for voice features; screen and connected-app features have their own permissions.
Does a walkthrough take more than one screenshot?
It can. An active walkthrough may capture fresh screenshots to check your progress, including after an action or while waiting for the page to change. Stop the walkthrough when you no longer want it to follow the task.
Does hiding Sal stop a background task?
No. Hiding the notch or closing Quick Chat can leave a delegated task running. Use the task’s stop or cancel control when you want to end it.
